What Are the Common Industry Practices
The MBMA has developed a Common Industry Practice describing the typical relationships, expectations and responsibilities of the owner, contractor and metal building manufacturer on a construction project. It contains the following sections:
  • Definitions
  • Sale of a metal building system including changes in order documents
  • Design of a metal building system including design responsibilities, end customer responsibilities and foundation design
  • Manufacturers responsibility including engineering, approval drawings and fabrication drawings
  • Materials and fabrication including welding, structural primer, inspection and loading
  • Delivery and receipt
  • Erection and other field work including tolerances
  • Insurance
