ICC/IBC

Metal building systems are custom designed steel buildings. The structural engineering is designed by a licensed engineer employed by the metal building manufacturer. Each building conforms to applicable local codes and standards.

Building codes and standards provide minimum requirements for all buildings, regardless of the construction type. According to the International Code Council, "minimum requirements" means that the construction meets the criteria of being both "practical and adequate for protecting life, safety, and welfare of the public".

The International Building Code (IBC) is the primary building code that is adopted by most local jurisdictions. Because it is up to local authorities to adopt a building code, there are multiple editions in use throughout the country. The vast majority of the U.S. utilizes a variation of the IBC.
